What is the KOLPING JUNIOR ACADEMY Program?
The Academy allows recreational players (pre competitive ages) to train and play with kids of like abilities. This program was put in place to allow players to be challenged according to their abilities and to help them develop as a soccer player. The Academy program is also a great tool in preparing players for competitive soccer.
Why should my child participate in a Soccer Academy?
The Academy is NOT for players that find recreational soccer difficult. The Academy presents greater challenges that meet the player’s needs. It is for those players who want to be challenged more than their current program & foresee a pursuit in competitive soccer.
Are there tryouts for the ACADEMY?
We do hold tryouts for the Academy program, but it is used mainly to just see what types of players are committed to our program by showing up. All Players will be placed in a “player-pool” that train & compete in games, based on their natural abilities & developmental progress. By grouping players by abilities it maximizes and enhances player development. Developmental progress allows opportunity for players to experience new challenges that echo’s their Player Development.
Where/When will ACADEMY players participate in matches?
Developmental matches will be set up for the Academy squads on the weekend and held at Kolping Sports Complex. The Academy will be using the “Player Pool” method to assign players to matches. This way everyone plays with different players each week.
On Saturdays players will meet and will play 3v3 and 4v4 matches.
Who will be the coaches?
The coaches will be provided & selected mainly by the Junior Academy Director, with the help of Jeff Anderson, Director of Coaching, and Matt Flick Director of Training.
When and where are the training sessions?
All Training sessions will be held at Kolping Soccer Complex, for one night of the week and also on Saturdays. The Academy Director will announce the nights at a later date.
What is the training approach?
The Academy coaching staff is educated on the specifics of instructing young players. Youth coaches have a tremendous influence on the development of a child's life-long passion for the game. The KOLPING JUNIOR ACADEMY curriculum focuses on developmentally appropriate training for children ages 5-7. The curriculum is a mix of educational and developmental theory combined with practical training and small-sided games.
What does the KOLPING JUNIOR ACADEMY cost?
The registration cost to enroll in the program each season will be $70. The fees will cover player registration, club administrative expenses, league-type games, ACADEMY t-shirt, etc.
